Why TYGR for your child?
TYGR is different in that we take children out of the clinic and into a setting that makes therapy fun, exciting, and keeps children wanting to come back for more! Licensed therapists develop treatments for children and bring them to life in the gym! Children play and burn off energy, while receiving individualized treatment tailored specifically to each of their needs. Therapists utilize the openness of the gym facilities, allowing the children freedom to express their motor and visual skills to their fullest potential. Children are provided a safe environment for voice and body expression, where therapists guide them in discovering body awareness, the body’s location in space, problem solving, upper and lower extremity strength, coordination skills, balance, focus, endurance, crossing midline, sequencing, following directions, and self-regulation.
Unique Setting
Our unique setting allows children to fully grasp what therapists teach by seeing the behaviors of typical peers. Therapists provide a safe and comfortable environment for TYGR children to learn, practice, and grow with others in the gym. Because we work in a gym with other programs occurring, children gain therapeutic support in an inclusive space. At a pace comfortable to your child, our therapists act as a guide while your child builds social skills and learns appropriate behaviors for their age. TYGR also offers a unique setting where a child can receive co-treatment with various disciplines (ex. Speech and Occupational Therapy) or utilize a team of therapists to treat the whole child.
Social and Inclusive Gymnastics
Through our interactive gymnastics facility, TYGR children receive plentiful opportunities for social growth and development. TYGR therapists work together to create an inclusive and friendly environment for children. TYGR children are cheered on by their peers and fellow gymnasts, for all their outstanding work and accomplishments! Through direct peer interactions and the available opportunity for imitation, children develop basic social skills that are vital for life.
Social opportunities
Social skills at TYGR are obtained through guidance of our therapists. By working in a gym with peers, other therapists, friends, and coaches, children learn the appropriate way to approach and speak to others. Working in a facility where other events are happening allows children to acknowledge others and allows them a platform to building relationships. Upon acknowledgement, children are allowed opportunities to talk with people around them. When children are able to interact with peers and see their triumphs, hardships, falls, etc., they learn to express their feelings and develop compassion for others. Children also learn turn taking, such as when joining a recreational gymnastics class, building on what it means to be work together as a team and having sportsmanship.
Motivating environment
At Therapy Yoga Gymnastics Rocks kids are motivated by therapists and other kids. Children are motivated to come back because they are excited about the environment and the fun activities their therapist plans. Working with kids without special needs or working alone are great reminders for the kids about how they rock!
Provide individual sessions with licensed therapist
At TYGR, kids have the option to either work individually with a therapist or attend group sessions. By having both options this can help children learn about different situations and their needs. When working in a group children can expect to participate in already scheduled classes at the gym and work with kids without special needs.
Collaboration with schools
At Therapy Yoga Gymnastics Rocks, we understand that children flourish best when they have a support system not only within therapy, but also in the community. TYGR teams up with local preschools! Our collaboration with schools provides therapeutic knowledge and support for children to succeed in the school setting both socially and academically.
