Meet our Physical Therapists:
Melanie Morrow, PT, DPT
Melanie Morrow graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Kinesiology, specialization in exercise science, and cognate in Physical Therapy. She went on to graduate from MGH Institute of Health Professions with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and received work at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago Pediatric Clinical Internship Program. She was previously a teaching assistant for Adapted Physical Activity and a Janet Wessel Award Recipient.
Melanie has Pediatric Physical Therapy experience in acute, inpatient rehab, outpatient, neonatal intensive care, aquatic therapy, and developmental follow up clinic. She has her certificate in Prechtl’s Method on the Qualitative Assessment of General Movements in young infants and has been a Certified Child Passenger Safety and Special Needs Technician (2012-2014). Some of her other work includes Early Intervention Specialist and Evaluator, training in Infant Massage, and a Volunteer Instructor for Crawlers Group and Infant Massage at Gigi’s Playhouse Chicago.
Lianna Fumo, PT, DPT
Lianna earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa in 2011. She has worked with children in clinic and school-based settings, and is a Credentialed Early Intervention Provider though the Illinois Early Intervention Program. She has also worked one-on-one as a caregiver to children with special needs, and has served as an Aqua Therapy instructor. Lianna prides herself on developing fun and creative therapy programs, in order to make therapy something that the children in her care look forward to each session.
Kerry Cerniglia, PT
Kerry graduated from Marquette University with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2007 and has since been practicing in Chicago with a wide range of experience in an outpatient and inpatient hospital setting treating orthopedic and neurological diagnoses including spinal cord injuries, strokes and traumatic brain injuries. She became interested in working with children while in graduate school, having worked one on one with children with Autism in their homes. Most recently, Kerry has worked in a level 1 trauma center treating both children and adults with a wide variety of diagnoses. She is a certified Lymphedema Therapist and have also taken a wide variety of continuing education courses including NDT, elastic taping, vertigo management and treatment of patients with respiratory failure. Kerry enjoys seeing her patients and clients improve their quality of life by focusing on their individual goals and reaching their full potential.
Meet our Occupational Therapists:
Kristy England, OTR/L
Kristy England graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. She has experience working in the school system and private clinic settings, treating children with severe emotional regulation and sensory integration difficulties, ages 2 through 15. Kristy specializes in handwriting and is certified through the Handwriting Without Tears program. She has a background in gymnastics, having competed for several years and is excited to combine her passion of OT with her love of gymnastics, to help children reach their full potential at TYGR. Kristy is currently licensed to provide OT services in Arkansas, Arizonia, Colorado, California, Washington, D.C., and Illinois.
Erinn Askin, OTR/L
Erinn Askin graduated from the University of Southern California with her Master’s Degree in Occupational Science/Occupational Therapy. She has worked with children on the autism spectrum in school based practice, as well as children with developmental, neurological, and physical disabilities as part of the early intervention system in both California and Illinois for the past 7 years. After completing her Master’s Degree, Erinn worked at a therapeutic day school exclusively for children on the autism spectrum. Additionally, she has worked with adults in the acute care setting. Erinn has significant experience working with children with sensory integration disorders and emotional disturbances as well as neurological and physical disabilities.
Terri Boss, OTR/L
Terri Boss has been a practicing Occupational Therapist for over 10 years and has spent 8 years working with students in the public school system. She has worked extensively with children and youth with autism and sensory processing disorders. Terri brings her superior knowledge, creativity, and passion to each session, focusing on each child’s individual needs.
Dala Aavik Lucas, OTR/L
Dala Aavik Lucas has more than 25 years of pediatric OT experience and over 10 years of private practice experience. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1986 and was early intervention certified in 1990. Dala has had extensive pediatric inpatient and outpatient experience, working at the Rehab Institute of Chicago, Neurological Center, Advocate Neonatal Unit, Teen mental health inpatient unit, the Belle Center of Chicago, where she worked to support children with special needs in private schools and at North Suburban Special Education Early Childhood-Middle School.
Dala’s education and experience has provided her with further expertise in neurodevelopment and central nervous system processes, including sensory processing disorder, autism, motor control and coordination. She specializes in NDT, SPD, SERTS, vision, behavior and alter programs. Dala has presented at both the national and state level, speaking at the American Occupational Therapy Association and Illinois Occupational Therapy Association annual conferences.
